Missouri Permit Test 2013

If you are trying to get a new drivers license in Missouri, you will be required to take the 2013 Missouri permit test. The drivers permit test covers the rules of the road, safe driving practices and road signs. According to the official statistics, more than a half of all first time applicants fail the Missouri learners permit test the first time they take it. If you want to pass your driver permit test the first time you take it, make sure to study the official drivers handbook and take the Missouri practice permit test.

Missouri Permit Test Questions

The drivers permit test in Missouri has 25 multiple choice questions and you need to provide at least 20 correct answers in order to pass it. Although the number of questions on the test in Missouri is considerably less than in most other states, more than 50% of all first time applicants fail to pass the exam on the first try. This usually happens because people tend to underestimate the level of questions they face on the exam and tend not to study too hard, settling for just reading the Missouri drivers handbook (some don't even do that). Although questions on the drivers permit test are based on the materials put forth in the manual, you don't have to settle for just reading the book, you are more than welcome to try other study materials as well.

The questions you have to answer on your Missouri learners permit test cover three different aspects of driving: traffic rules, road signs and safe driving practices. The questions are usually divided equally between all these topics, so you should not concentrate on learning just one of them better than others.

Just to give you an idea of what a permit test question may look like, here is a free sample question from the drivers handbook:

In Missouri, the blood alcohol concentration level at which it is illegal for an adult driver to operate a motor vehicle is:

  • .08% or more
  • 0.05% or more
  • .020% or more
  • 0.008 or more

Missouri permit test questions cover such topics as vehicle registration and titling, the point system and insurance requirements, so make sure to study those topics before you go in for the exam.

Preparing for the Missouri Drivers Permit Test

Thankfully, the Missouri Department of Revenue makes it very easy for you to prepare for your permit exam and provides free study materials that are fully sufficient for passing the knowledge test. When the time comes to apply for your Missouri drivers license, just grab yourself a free copy of the drivers manual. Apart from covering the rules of the road, safe driving techniques and road signs, the book also describes the licensing procedure and can help you choose the right type of license. Teenagers should make sure to check out the Missouri graduated drivers license laws as they contain additional requirements for drivers under 18 years of age.

Another great way for you to prepare for your permit test is to take a Missouri drivers ed class. Although the state does not have mandatory drivers ed courses for drivers license applicants, you should still give a good thought to this option. Taking the class has a number of advantages, such as getting prepared for the drivers permit exam, becoming a safer driver and possibly receiving a discount on car insurance. Many insurance agencies offer discounts of up to 15% for those who complete drivers ed classes.

Finally, there is also the Missouri permit practice test that you should utilize together with the manual. Although the tests won't allow you to learn the rules, they can be of great help when it comes to evaluating how well you've learned the information from the book. Some students find it especially helpful if you can take a practice test after each section of the book. You can use whatever works for you, just remember that the Missouri practice permit tests should not be used as the only way to study. We also offer a free Missouri drivers permit practice test and a Missouri DMV practice test that feature unlimited sample permit questions with correct answers!
