North Carolina Permit Test NC

North Carolina Permit Test 2013

When you are applying for a drivers license in NC, you are required to take the 2013 North Carolina permit test. The test for a learners permit assesses your knowledge of the state driving rules and allows the state to make a decision whether you are fit to get on the public roads. The NC permit test is administered by the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and you can take the test at any exam stations around the state. You don't have to make an appointment for the NC DMV permit test, you can just walk in and take the test any time during the regular business hours.

NC Permit Test Questions

Most of the people who took the driving permit test don't find it hard, however statistics show us that over a half of all first time North Carolina learners permit applicants fail the knowledge exam the first time they take it. The reason for this is the tendency to underestimate the level of questions one can encounter on the test. The DMV permit test NC has 25 questions on driving rules, road signs and traffic safety and you need to answer at least 20 of those questions correctly, which makes the passing score 80%. Most of us are able to answer the basic permit questions, especially when it comes to the road signs - you see them pretty much every day of your life, so if you are even a slightly observant person, you should know them by heart by the time you take the test. The situation is completely different when it comes to the permit questions that cover the traffic regulations. You may know the right of way, but do you know the legal blood alcohol level or how many points off your license you will lose if you are convicted of breaking the speed limit by over 30 miles per hour?

Another issue that may cause problems on the North Carolina permit test is the way the questions are worded. The DMV is trying to make sure that you understand the problem no matter how it is presented, so the permit questions may be worded in a manner that is not so easy to understand. Taking a NC practice permit test can help you get a grip of that wording.
