Connecticut Permit Test 2013

Even though drivers license applicants who are over 18 years of age are not required to apply for a learners permit prior to receiving a drivers license, they still have to take a 2013 Connecticut permit test, just like younger drivers. The CT DMV permit test was designed to check your knowledge of the state driving rules and regulations and you won't be able to get a permit or a license until you demonstrate good knowledge of the rules. You can prepare for the test by reading the drivers handbook and taking a free permit practice test CT sample exam. In addition to the actual 2013 Connecticut permit test (CT), drivers license applicants under 18 years of age are also required to pass a Teen Final Exam that will assess their knowledge of safe driving practices and license restrictions.

Connecticut Permit Test Questions

The Connecticut permit test has 25 questions and the passing score for the test is 80%, which means that you need to answer at least 20 of these questions correctly. 25 questions isn't much, especially considering the fact that most states require permit applicants to answer twice as many questions, however more than a half of all first time applicants fail the exam the first time they take it. The reason why people tend to fail the permit test is because they underestimate the level of questions they will receive on the exam. Most people tend to think that general knowledge of driving rules is more than enough for successfully passing the test, but this is not true. The Department of Motor Vehicles wants to make sure that you know as much as possible about driving before they allow you to get behind the wheel and the permit test questions will cover all materials provided in the official Connecticut drivers permit test handbook.

Just to give you an idea of what you will be facing on the real permit test CT, here is a sample practice permit test question:

How far ahead should you look when you are on the open highway?

a) About one mile
b) About a quarter of a mile
c) About a half of a mile

The correct answer to this question is located at the end of the page.

At the actual DMV permit test, you will be required to answer at least 20 questions like these correctly and guessing won't do you much good. Considering the fact that every attempt at the test will cost you $40, it is in your best interest to pass the permit exam the first time you take it and in order to do so, you have to study the rules.
