These practice questions were not designed to be used as a stand-alone study resource and you must read the book if you want to succeed on your Georgia DDS permit test.

DDS Test Answers

Answer A to the DDS practice permit test question suggests that you should leave your wheels parallel to the road when parking uphill and there is no curb present. If you do this and your vehicle start to roll, it will roll downhill until it actually hits something. Not the best option.

Answer B to the Georgia DDS test question states that turning the wheels towards the road is a good idea. Let's think what will happen if the vehicle starts to roll. Since the wheels are turned towards the road, the vehicle should move into the adjacent traffic lane and either crash into someone or block other traffic. While this may be a slightly better option than answer A, it is still not the right answer.

Answer C to the DDS permit practice test question offers you to turn your wheels towards the sidewalk. This way, if the vehicle starts to roll, it will just roll off the road without blocking traffic or crashing into other vehicles. Sounds all right, but let's look at the last option we have.

Answer D to the Georgia DDS practice test suggests that you can turn your wheels either way if you set a parking brake, since your vehicle will not roll. This is actually a trick answer. The reason why you turn your wheels one way or another is specifically to anticipate a situation when your parking brake fails.

Correct DDS Permit Test Answer

The correct answer to this Georgia DDS test question is C:

“WHEN PARKING UPHILL AND IF THERE IS NO CURB PRESENT, YOU MUST TURN YOUR WHEELS TOWARDS THE SIDEWALK”

If you are driving a vehicle with manual transmission, make sure to use a parking brake AND leave your vehicle in gear to prevent it from rolling. However, even if you do that, you must still turn your wheels in the appropriate direction so your vehicle will not injure anyone should it start to roll.
